Our Core Programmes

We believe that when a child is sick, the family needs comfort and support. That is why we have been working tirelessly to build and sustain our core programmes.

  • A bedroom in the Ronald McDonald House with a queen bed.

Located within the hospital, caregivers can get a good night's sleep in any of our 4 comfortable bedrooms, knowing that their sick child is just moments away.

  • A Family Room lounge.

The Ronald McDonald House Family Rooms

A communal lounge where families can recharge and get some respite. The family rooms are just steps away from the Paediatric ICU Ward at NUH, and Sunrise Ward at IMH. The Family Room within the Neonatal ICU Ward at NUH was opened in 2022 specifically for parents of hospitalized newborns.

Our Stories

Baby Mira's Story

When Mira Koh Xin Rong was born, her family's journey quickly became one of resilience and hope. Diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot, a form of congenital heart disease, Mira underwent a life-saving heart repair surgery on 15 July. Complications during and after the operation meant that what was expected to be a critical procedure turned into a prolonged and uncertain battle – one that kept Mira in the Intensive Care Unit for five months.

The Story of an Overcomer

After an unexpected asthma attack, Azura found herself undergoing an emergency cesarean section delivery at just 25 weeks and 5 days of pregnancy.

Our Second Home

Siti Nur Ain and Suhaimi are parents to cheerful 18-month-old Amira Mikayla.

Ronald McDonald House; a Sanctuary

In the hostile environment of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, their newborn son's first cries were followed by a whirlwind of anxiety. Baby Jason* underwent a heart surgery within the first week of his tiny existence. For new parents, Dominic* and Amelia*, this was not the introduction to parenthood they had envisioned or hoped for.

A Beacon of Hope

Fathli and Salwa are proud parents of two boys, with their youngest son Ilhan, turning six years old this year. Ilhan was born with a congenital heart defect called Dextrocardia with Single Ventricle, which required close medical attention ever since his condition was discovered.

A Child's Sanctuary

Lisa* faced numerous struggles and challenges in her role as the main caregiver for her son who had been diagnosed with Dyslexia, Depression and Autism.

A Guiding Light

“Tears would well up in my eyes during the morning rush hour as I made my way to work. Watching as the kids head to their schools, I found myself saying “Their parents must be very proud of them for wanting to go to school. Why couldn't my own children do the same?” I was raised in a family where education was given utmost importance as it was our guaranteed ticket out of poverty. My husband and I tried to pass down this value to our children, but it did not have the same effect on them.

The Power of Support

One fateful morning in October 2022, the world seemed to come crashing down on Joseph and Jasmine, when they discovered that their 7-year-old son, Thaddeus had fallen from his bed while sleeping and could not wake up. They rushed him to the nearest hospital, fearing a head trauma from the fall. After a CT scan, the doctors discovered that Thaddeus had suffered a stroke, a shock to the family who could not understand how a young boy could have a stroke. Thaddeus was immediately transferred by ambulance to National University Hospital (NUH), where he would begin his journey to recovery. But amidst the fear and uncertainty, the family knew they could count on the support of RMHC, that had helped them in the past and would be there for them once again.

Keeping Families Close

“Our baby Daniel was warded in the Paediatric ICU (PICU) after a heart surgery to correct a congenital heart condition. The support we received from RMHC Singapore made this difficult period much more bearable and enabled us to focus on caring for our little one without worry. RMHC provided us with a room next to PICU so we could see our little one anytime in the day while catching enough rest.”

Priscilla Wong

“Mikayla was only 3 weeks old when she was transferred to the Paediatric ICU for her first open heart surgery. There were other complications, and the recovery process took longer than expected. Nevertheless, we were grateful that we were offered a room at the Ronald McDonald House.”

Someudee Abdul Kadir

“Sherelle was diagnosed with an auto-immune encephalitis, a newly known life-threatening disease. It became the worst nightmare of our lives and we were engulfed in stress, anxiety, sadness and fatigue. Thus, our doctor referred us to RMHC Singapore...”

Hendra Ng

“We are thankful that RMHC Singapore provided us with a wonderful and homely space to lift us up, where we could rest and recharge while being close to our child...”

Lyu Zhiyang

“We came across RMHC Singapore when our son was admitted to NUH Paediatric ICU and were pleasantly surprised by the warm hospitality and cosy environment...”

Weiming and Jac

“I would like to sincerely thank you for all your love, help, kindness and generosity for accommodating my sister...”

Emma and Myra

“My baby daughter, Alexis, was born premature, and admitted to NUH's Newborn ICU in February 2020. She was tiny and fragile...”
